Pros and Cons of Paper Towels

While paper towels may not be the greenest item we sell in that they waste a lot of paper and trees, they do provide some benefits. Unlike sponges and cloth towels, paper towels are less likely to redeposit dirt and germs provided sheets are not over-used. Paper towel dispensers are also usually cleaner and not a breeding ground for bacteria like automatic hand dryers. Moreover, with sustained and more responsible tree farming, habitat loss and human encroachment can be minimized. It may not be a perfect solution but recycled and unbleached paper towels are available. If germs are a major concern, paper towels are practical and biodegradable as well.
